The free tool Burn pulls an ISO of an optical data carrier with just a few clicks. You then have an ISO file that you can use, for example virtualization or Creation of a boot stick with UNetBootin or other tools of this kind. A click on “Save” puts the ISO image of your disc where you want it. Then you select the "Copy" tab, click on "Scan" and select the DVD or CD drive. Start Burn now right-click the first time to bypass gatekeeper protection. Connect your USB DVD drive and insert the CD or DVD you want to create an ISO from. Annoying but tolerable if your have the free burning program Burn for MacOS. As said before, MacOS doesn't support one in Disk Utility for some versions Disc imaging from optical media more.
